چکیده

1 I would like to thank the following people for enormously helpful discussion on many aspects of these constructions: In diverse languages considered separately, each for itself and in its own functioning, the analysis of the relative clause shows a formal structure ordered by a certain function that is not always visible. The problem is to uncover that function. This can be arrived at by observing that the relative clause often has, in a given linguistic system, the same formal marks as another syntagm of a denomination so entirely different that no one would think that they could be related. Guided by this formal analogy, the interpretation of the relative clause becomes possible in terms of function. It is the internal relationship which we propose to bring to light first. 1. Introduction This paper focuses on two aspects of prenominal non-subject relative constructions (hereafter NSR) typified by W. Armenian and Dagur in (1) and (2): this type of relative, to the best of my knowledge, has been overlooked in descriptive typological studies, despite being one prevalent pattern of person/number marking for NSRs within the Uralic and Altaic languages of Eurasia. As will be seen, it raises significant questions concerning the theoretical assumptions required for an appropriate account.

Developing a Semantic Similarity Judgment Test for Persian Action Verbs and Non-action Nouns in Patients With Brain Injury and Determining its Content Validity

Objective: Brain trauma evidences suggest that the two grammatical categories of noun and verb are processed in different regions of the brain due to differences in the complexity of grammatical and semantic information processing. Studies have shown that the verbs belonging to different semantic categories lead to neural activity in different areas of the brain, and action verb processing is r...

Towards constructing an Integrative, Multi-Level Model for Cognition: The Function of Semantic Networks

Integrated approaches try to connect different constructs in different theories and reinterpret them using a common conceptual framework. In this research, using the concept of processing levels, an integrated, three-level model of the cognitive systems has been proposed and evaluated. Processing levels are divided into three categories of Feature-Oriented, Semantic and Conceptual Level based o...

Universal Constructions for (Co)Relations: categories, monoidal categories, and props

Calculi of string diagrams are increasingly used to present the syntax and algebraic structure of various families of circuits, including signal flow graphs, electrical circuits and quantum processes. In many such approaches, the semantic interpretation for diagrams is given in terms of relations or corelations (generalised equivalence relations) of some kind. In this paper we show how semantic...
